Communication is the basic fundamental human right under the light of Article 19 by Universal declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) which says each and every individual have the right to freedom of opinions and expressions. Right from the start the types of human communication evolves time to time. Letter by the post was the revolutionary beginning of the human communication while today we have the smartest way possible to communicate with each other.
The evolution of communication begins by written letters sent with the trained pigeons. The next big thing was Post offices around the whole country as the authority office to spread the letters to respective receiver. In 1876 Alexander Graham bell invented the 1st telephone in the world and within 7 years of his invention, The telephone exchanges were established in Bombay, Madras and Calcutta.
Motorola, on 3 April 1973 were first company to mass produce the first handheld mobilephone. In August 1995, then Chief Minister of West Bengal, Jyoti Basu made the first mobile phone call in India to then Union Telecom Minister Sukhram. 1G, 2G were first for the mobile phones which have bandwidth of 25 MHz. Then 3G with 1900 MHz was introduced in 2008. 2G and 3G fall under the of GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access).
In 2012, 4G was launched in India for better internet speed which led ultimately the progressive development of Indian Cellular department. Reliance Jio brought the revolution in India.
The previous decade was the ultimate success for private cellular companies as they were successfully launched 3G & 4G. A step ahead feature would be bringing 5G in India, but as a matter of fact 5G is kickstarted some rich countries in the world such as China, US, South korea and United kingdom. Definitely the 5G network would be game changer but looking at the perspective of saving the environment it would be dangerous obviously.
The bandwidth of 5G network lies between 30Hz to 300 Gigahertz (GHz). Spectrum on the lower end, called low-band (600 million hertz (MHz) to 900 MHz) has longer waves and can travel farther. As waves range from mid-band (2.5GHz to 4.2GHz) to high-band also known as millimeter wave (24GHz to 47GHz). This data is roadmap to how this 5G network will damage the Environment. A Punjab University study found that sparrows exposed to cell tower radiation for five to 30 minutes produced disfigured eggs. In Spain, the nesting, breeding and roosting of birds were disturbed by microwave radiation from a cell tower.
Few days back well known Bollywood actress Juhi chawla files a lawsuit in Bombay High Court against those who were keen to launch 5g in India because she’s aware of the harmful effects of the mobile phone radiation. No doubt she got brutally trolled just because she’s aware about the fact that climate change, greenhouse effect and carbon emission is increasing day by day.
Now the question will rise, As a developing country Why can’t we use 5G network for the development in various fields related to the network expansion, well the answer find a substitute technology any other way to stop the damage of environment and Government should spread awareness about the climate change and increasing number of E-waste.
