The 7th Schedule of the Indian Constitution deals with the division of powers between the Union government and State governments. It is a part of 12 Schedule of Indian Constitution. The division of powers between Union and State is notified through three kinds of the list mentioned in the seventh schedule:
- Union List – List I
- State List – List II
- Concurrent List – List III
Introduction
As it is mentioned above the power is divided into three parts- Union, state and concurrent.
Union list it means there some are powers which are given to union government.
State list- it means there are some powers given to state government.
Concurrent list- it means there are some powers which are given to both the union and state government.
These three lists are mentioned below:-
Union list
There are total 100 subjects in Union list. Some of them are:-
- Defence
- Army
- International Relations
- Ports
- Railways
- Highways
- Communication
- Banking
- foreign loans
- United Nation Organization

State list
If any arrangement of a law made by the Legislature of a State is hostile to any arrangement of a law made by Parliament which Parliament is capable to institute, or to any arrangement of current law concerning one of the issues specified in the Concurrent List, then, at that point, the law made by Parliament, regardless of whether passed under the watchful eye of or after the law made by the Legislature of such State, or, by and large, the current law, will win and the law made by the Legislature of the State will, to the degree of the repugnancy, be void. There is an exemption for this in cases “where a law made by the Legislature of a State concerning one of the issues counted in the Concurrent List contains any arrangement offensive to the arrangements of a previous law made by Parliament or a current law regarding that matter, then, at that point, the law so made by the Legislature of such State will, on the off chance that it has been held for the thought of the President and has accepted his consent, win in that State. Given that nothing in this condition will keep Parliament from establishing whenever any law concerning a similar matter including a law adding to, correcting, changing or revoking the law so made by the Legislature of the State.”

Concurrent list
Consistency is alluring yet not fundamental on things in the simultaneous rundown. On the off chance that any arrangement of a law made by the Legislature of a State is repulsive to any arrangement of a law made by Parliament which Parliament is skillful to order, or to any arrangement of current law regarding one of the issue counted in the Concurrent List, then, at that point, the law made by Parliament, regardless of whether passed under the watchful eye of or after the law made by the Legislature of such State or, all things considered, the current law, will win and the law made by the Legislature of the State will, to the degree of the repugnancy, be void. There is an exemption for this in cases “where a law is made by the Legislature of a State regarding one of the issues counted in the Concurrent List contains any arrangement offensive to the arrangements of a prior law made by Parliament or a current law as besides, then, at that point, the law so made by the Legislature of such State will, if it has been held for the thought of the President and has accepted his consent, win in that State. Given that nothing in this proviso will keep Parliament from authorizing whenever any law regarding a similar matter including a law adding to, changing, shifting or canceling the law so made by the Legislature of the State.”
