Every human being has flaws and it is natural. Some have vices like alcohol, substance or womanizing or running behind men and some have internal issues like anger, jealousy, aggressiveness. A Human Being is imperfect, who is governed by his emotions. How many times, have we let logic rule over emotions. Not many times. Emotional Balance is one of the crucial life skills that we human beings need.
To talk about the story of Arjun Reddy in short.
So after reading a lot of debate on Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. I finally saw Arjun Reddy yesterday.
***spoiler alert***
Arjun Reddy is a Surgeon who has anger issues combined with alcohol and substance abuse. The story is a typical love story age old formula to fool the people and make money. But here are a few points that I observed.
1. Our education system is pathetic.. It manufactures robots and not human beings. Depression amongst doctors is a reality. If only our education system would have also included taking care of our mental health, it would have given us a lot better professionals.
2. With him drinking and going to workplace as a doctor, let me tell you something. I know quiet of few senior lawyers, who are drunk at 11am and can argue on the point. I have seen CEO s and VPs of top companies sipping down a sip of alcohol from their Hip Flask during working hours. I have seen some who are totally stoned yet in they are in their sharpest senses. I cannot name them because they are extremely respectable people in the society.
Trust me. None of them harmed me, fought with us or was disoriented, they were all sharp. It’s just that they did could not handle the work pressure and needed support.
So if you think education will stop substance abuse, then sorry, people resort to substance abuse when they are mentally incapable to deal with a situation.
3. I have seen N number of couples in family court. Men and Women, who tend to take decisions hurriedly and create a false pressure on the other side. In India especially both girls and boys are not taught to take our own decisions and the responsibility for the same. The result a messed up situation. Either we can let the couple take their own decisions and then suffer the consequence or take responsibility of the couple and suffer the consequence with them.
4. It is not mandatory that guys like Arjun Reddy go only for love marriage and it just happens in movies. So many times have we seen around us, where husband and wife behave extra possessive and restrain each other from talking to their respective families. Possessiveness is scary. We just dont talk about it. Relationship development and emotional well being is something that we totally ignore.
The movie is a good time pass but shows the reality about lack of acknowledgement of mental health….
Something which we barely talk about
(P.S. I do not support substance abuse.)
