Balancing Life – Aishwarya Sandeep

Candidate Number:- 1

I am Aishwarya Sandeep, 35, Advocate and Enterpreneur based out of Mumbai.

What are your Official Working Hours and How many hours do you work ?

I am an Independent Professional and therefore do not have fixed working hours. I work from home and as my first priority is my House and family, I end up doing my professional work, as and when I get free time. Yes, my bosses are my two kids.

I end up working at late nights because I do not like to be disturbed, when I am working, which is a bit difficult during day time. Total number of hours at work is any where from 4 to 6 hours in a day.

How much Me Time do you get in a day ? What do you do during that time?

I ensure to take out 10 mins of “Me Time” in a day. I love taking long walks with music during those 10 mins, which I manage during my children’s playtime.

Are you more productive, when you are working for longer hours?

I am not much productive, when I work for longer hours because it makes me physically weak. Yes, earlier during my college days and internship and jobs, I have gone 3-4 nights with about 2-3 hours of sleep but the same is not possible now. I undertake limited amount of work, which I can personally deliver on time.

Does working long hours mean better productivity and better quality of work?

It is not necessary that working for longer hours will help you deliver better quality of work. Working for longer hours may also be a reflection of bad planning and wrong priorities. I feel that working 6-8 hours sincerely, without any disturbance, can help you complete your task on time.

One thing that you would like to change about your work routine.

I wish I could become more technology friendly than I am presently, so that I can become more productive.

I have always been against Glorifying Over Work and therefore, in the year 2021, I have decided to launch this campaign “Balancing Life”and talk about this wrong practice, that we have been following since last few years. I will be talking to and interviewing around 1 lakh people in the coming 2021 and publish their interview regarding their opinion on glamourising Over Work.
