Balancing Life – Sandeep Radhakrishnan

Candidate Number:- 2

Sandeep Radhakrishnan, 40, Human Resource Professional based out of Mumbai.

What are your official working hours and How many hours do you work?

The official working hours of the office are 8 Hours per day for 6 days a week. Sometimes, the actual working hours strech beyond the official working hours due to unexpected circumstances and tough deadlines.

How much me time do you get in a day? What do you do in your me time.

I try and take out atleast 2 hours in a day for myself. I don’t do much really just spend some time with my family, which destresses me.

Are you more productive, when you work for longer hours?

To meet deadlines, I have to work for longer hours. So yes, I would say that I am more productive, when I work for longer hours.

Does working for long hours mean better productivity and better quality of work.

As a Human Resource Professional, I understand that every Individual is different, i.e. he has his own strengths and weaknesses. While some people may take longer time to understand and execute their work, some may do it quickly. But still, you are supposed to finish your task in given official hours and then in that case, you have no option except to force yourself to be more productive, while extending your time. So, it is just a myth that working for long hours means better productivity. I have seen cases, where good employees have got frustrated because of their long working hours and quit their jobs.

One thing that you would like to change about your work routine.

Travel less and save more time. Travelling is a big challenge in Mumbai and with the Covid the traffic jams are insane.
