Can India Get Rid Of Corruption?

There is an all pervading corruption in our socio-economic and political structure and this has not spared even our own family life- such is the rotten state of India. A degrading value system as advocated by the followers of power mongers distances us from the power of our sense of duty, morality and honesty against the treacherous enemy destroying us from within. Our Constitution makes us the supreme source of power but the trust we are keeping in our leaders, large amount are siphoned off for personal gains, relatives and friends are favoured and the public is kept in the dark. The cases that have surfaced and are entangled in judicial procedure continue for an infinite length of time.

Some famous scams:

  • Ayurvedic Scam of 26 crores
  • Telecom Scam of 34.68 crores
  • Urea Scam of 133 crores
  • Animal Husbandry Scam of 950 crores
  • Bank Security Scam of 9132.75 crores

The anti Corruption laws, makes all hopes of recovery rather bleak through there is no dearth of drugs and physician. The CBI was set up in 1963 which has been entrusted with the task of exposing the truth and various laws have been enacted to prevent the spreading of this cancer. Following are the laws:

  • The Prevention of Corruption, formed in 1947, however amended in 1988
  • The Santhanam Committee, formed in 1964
  • The Administrative Reforms Committee, formed in 1966
  • Delhi Special Police Establishment merged with CBI, formed in 1941
  • Central Bureau of Investigation, formed in 1963

Yet, a bridge exits between the intention of law makers and its effective implementation. Indians have displayed the resiliemce to resist and overthrow all external and internal forms of Tyranny. The enormity and depth of the problem of corruption undoubtedly makes its eradication a challenging task but the purging has already begun.
