Channelizing Youth Power for Nation-Building

The youth of a nation are the foundation head of its idealism. The young men and women can provide a new moral impetus to India. They can bring a new moral awakening or moral rejuvenation. Youth is that wonderful time in life when energy is limitless, human creativity is at its best and the ‘never say die’ spirit is at its peak. Today, one keeps seeing and reading about the achievements of hundreds of young people in practically all spheres of life.

God had placed before the youth of a nation one task, one aim i.e. service of mother nation. They should denote themselves mentally and physically to the nation reconstruction. Building a great democracy is not enough but the defense of democracy and secularism is the need of the hour. Only youth with muscle of iron and nerves of steel can defeat predatory aggressors. The youth have an immune reservoir of strength and energy. Their power should be utilized to welfare and defence of the country. The youth have untapped potential. This should not be wasted. They should avoid getting involved in party politics and intrigues. They should avoid futile or disruptive pursuits.

They can repay the debts of the nation by serving India with greater efficiency. They should suffer so that their country and fellow countrymen may rejoice. The youth should mix up their bubbling idealism with energy. There is no reason for defeatism, boredom, depression. They should play a major role in the great adventure of nation-building. Thousands of problems absent them but all these can be combusted. Those challenges are graver than any faced by their predecessors.  Let them not be found wanting in the need of the hour.

We won freedom after a lot to sacrifice and struggles. The new generation can’t afford to take their freedom for granted. Maintenance and strengthening of independence is more difficult than its attainment. Just a mere desire to leave the nation is not enough. They have to build up a vast and vibrant nation which is a difficult yet attainable task.

The potential of every nation lies in the quality of its youths. An erstwhile secretary of the United Nations Organization Ban Ki- moon once enthused in his speech at the 2007 International Youth Day thus: “we must fulfill our obligations to youths. The World program of action for youths asks governments to consider the contributions of young persons on all policies affecting them. Governments must honor this commitment. They must also increase the financial education and technical support made available to young people…it is high time we stopped viewing the young people as part of the problem and started cultivating their promise and potential.”

The future of every nation lies on the shoulder of its youths. Youths are the leaders of tomorrow, and they constitute the major energetic manpower of a nation. Therefore national growth and development would be fast-tracked if the youths are duly formed and equipped with the necessary tools to meet the huge demands of this fast-moving age and time.
