Child Pornography

Child pornography refers to any type of visual representation depicting explicit sexual behavior that involves persons under the age of 18. It may occur in the direct involvement or sexual assault of children (also known as child sexual abuse images, or simulated child pornography). Child abuse occurs during sexual acts or obscene displays of genitals or genitals, and these acts are recorded during the production process. Child pornography may use a variety of media, including writing, magazines, photos, sculptures, paintings, paintings, animation, recordings, movies, videos, and video games. May create child pornography for profit or other purposes.

 Laws related to child pornography-

  • The government stated in a statement that the amendments to sections 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 14, 15, 34, 42 and 45 of the POCSO Act of 2012 were intended to address all aspects of child sexual abuse. Proper way. “The revision of Articles 4, 5 and 6 is proposed to provide severe punishment options, including sexual assault and felony penetrative sexual assault offenses against children, to protect children from sexual abuse,” he said.
  •  Section 9 of  also proposes amendments to protect children from natural disasters and other similar situations, as well as when the child uses any hormone or chemical in some way to achieve early sexual maturity by declaring osmotic violations.
  •  It is also proposed to amend articles 14 and 15 of the POCSO Act of 2012 to address the threat of child pornography. It is recommended to impose a fine for not destroying, removing or reporting pornographic material that involves children for the purpose to share or spread it says the government.

Most of the attention to child pornography is often related to questions such as How harmful is child pornography, really? Will people who view, trade or sell child pornography continue to commit crimes with their own hands? Go out and sexually abuse children?

Studies related to child pornography are contradictory. It is difficult to say clearly whether offenders of child pornography continue to commit crimes of sexual violence against children. However, we know that for some offenders child pornography is a serious risk factor for continuing to commit additional sexual offenses against minors.

As the technology for victimizing children through child pornography continues to evolve, so does the law enforcement technology responsible for detecting it. There are new platforms for child pornography, but someone has been trained to infiltrate these platforms and hold the perpetrators accountable. This type of work requires many resources and the public can help by reporting to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children or by contacting the Maine Department of Cybercrime. They worked together to help eradicate this terrible crime.

Recognize that child pornography is a form of sexual violence and, like all sexual violence, can be prevented. In addition to holding the perpetrators accountable, we also need to carefully examine the parts of our culture that allow and normalize child sexual abuse. The Maine Sexual Assault Support Center is teaching classes for parents and professionals who work closely with young children to recognize the alert behavior of other adults. In these courses, parents are also given the tools to talk to their children about topics such as establishing and respecting family boundaries, using appropriate body part names, clarifying the difference between acceptable and inappropriate touch, and explaining the difference between surprises and secrets. Sexual assault prevention educators across Maine are in school every day, working with students on personal safety and other prevention programs.
