If we have to talk about depression then if we move over the timeline, we get more to talk about it, in the earlier days, we barely had cases of stress and depression, as compared to today. In today’s era you can hear cases of “huge” and irreversible mistakes done in bouts of anxiety and depression.
The society in over a few decades ago, was more tolerant, and more peaceful. Earlier the strain on people was less. Along with time and economic and industrial bloom came the liquefying pressure for job requirements and education reform. Over the decade the turnout of educated Indians increased, thus increasing the competition for a settled job capacity. Today we only see the imperfect system of Indian education job machinery get worse by-passing years. When a student can’t cope with the monstrous, gigantic stress, they get buried under it. They commit suicide. Another reason for depression is a deeper involvement in social media.
Today’s teenagers indulge themselves in the complex and tide-turning world of social media and often think of it as the primary world makes two persons as the perpetual and the victim. If we delve deeper into the mechanics of the mindset of both, there we see that one becomes a criminal due to depression or stress due to becoming a victim. A vicious cycle of criminals and victims is formed which ends only in a sad tone of one of them quitting. Quitting on life the stress building up gets to them and they think they now have nowhere else to go. Almost everyday we listen to another good one ending their lives out somewhere this is a bitter and sad situation.
Those who try to cope the pressure get involved in health detoriant like drugs, smoking, drinking etc. there is an imperative need for the younger generation to be stress free and motivated. Over years there have been of course steps taken but alas only scant. There is a need for better bond between parents and children, so they can share their problems and pains when in need. Also, counseling and advising along with mental guidance should be given to the distressed. All they need is a helping hand and someone to listen to their buried pressure also the job education system has to change for better. And the younger generation free to make their choices and their dreams parental pressure should be omitted. The teens have to understand that the virtual world is not everything there is a life going on beyond it which is precious. The kids need to feel safe and secure in their society and for that the society has to become more understanding.
A person’s cultural background can also influence their biological makeup. People from different parts of the world have different patterns of genes and often different patterns of disease to which they are vulnerable, such genetic differences can influence whether people succumb to depression when stressed. Similarly people’s genetic background can influence their response to antidepressant medications.
