Domestic violence : A social evil

Domestic violence : A social evil

‘Domestic Violence’ is one the most burning issue of today’s world. We ever see that social crimes life wife -beating and sexual harassment are highly increasing day by day. Here I am talking about domestic violence.

Domestic Violence is the violence or abuse that is practiced in a domestic setting – cohabitation or marriage. It is an act of physical, sexual or psychological mistreatment of a threat                                                                  of such mistreatment imposed against women by a person intimately connected to her through marriage.

Domestic violence is not only physically it is also mentally, it has a direct effect on mind, it is type of torcher given to a women. It can be affecting people from all walks of life.

Domestic violence is a learned behavior and is not practiced due to any common excuses such as drugs or alcohol, anger or mental problem.

There are so many acts and centers which protest against it.

According to section 498a of IPC INDIAN PENEL CODE, which pertains to cruelty to women, states that domestic violence punishment in India includes imprisonment of up to three years.

“The protection of women from domestic violence Act,2005.”

The major thing is that here every one has to change their mindset. Proper education can be given to girls so that they can be self dependent and have courage to fight against wrong.

The most common causes for women pestering and beating include dissatisfaction with the dowry and exploiting women for more of it. Arguing with the partner, refusing to have sexual contact, neglecting children. The greed for more dowry, desire for a mail child and alcoholism of the spouse are major factors of domestic violence against women.

The Tandoor Murder Case of Naina Sahani in New Delhi year 1995 is one such dreadful incident of a women being killed and then burnt in a Tandoor by his husband.

There are many other cases related to domestic violence

The case of Rahul Mahajan and Dimpy Ganguly. Etc.

Domestic violence at home has a negative effect on children’s. Some times children’s can themselves get physically abused or hurt. They can lose self-confidence.

The constitution of India gives every one right to speak and fight against wrong things. So girls have to make a proper mindset that they can fight against domestic violence and wrong practices happened with them.
