Introduction

Domestic Violence is said to be domestic abuse which can be committed by any individual. It is an abuse in a domestic setting like marriage. Domestic violence can take place between same sex relationships, partners, against children as well as elderly people. Domestic violence is a very big word which ranges from physical, emotional , social abuse, sexual and verbal abuse to dangerous crimes like marital rape, choking, beating, acid throwing resulting in death.

According to statistics and proper census, women are mostly victims of domestic violence and suffer the most. Domestic violence is permitted in some countries where the man can instruct and dominate the women and if not followed, women will be beaten up. Women are said to be under the feet of men in some places specially remote areas or we can see these in mostly illiterate households.

Domestic violence against Women specially during pregnancy, children

Sometimes it is seen that domestic violence increases during the time of pregnancy. In many households whether literate or illiterate, poor or rich, the husband and his family want a boy child. In order to satisfy themselves, they make the wife undergo different ceremonies and make her eat different things. Even if she disagrees or does not like it, she is made to follow everything forcefully . And later if the child is a girl child, the family members abuse her and she has to undergo domestic violence. The small children who grow up in these homes where abusive words are used in a continuous manner, where they see their parents fighting, their mother is abused and being forced to work, those children develop a behavioral problem and suffer from inferiority complex sometimes.

Violence against women is violation of women’s human rights . Many girls and women in between 15-49 years of age are subjected to Sexual violence, physical or verbal violence in their relationship.

Intimate Partner Violence- This comes under domestic violence where the partner causes physical and sexual aggression to women, causes harm, psychological abuse, beating and other behavioral and verbal violence.

Sexual Violence- Sexual Violence is directly using a person’s sexuality using force and coercion. For example, rape is a very good example of sexual violence. It also includes sexual touching and non contact forms. Forcefully putting or penetrating the body part or anus to the vagina of the women is a crime and a sexual violence.

Domestic violence also says where the man continuously gives your instructions, calls different fake names and insults unnecessarily in front of everyone. It also results in domestic violence when the opposite partner forcefully wants to have sex or indulge in sexual activities. Over possessive nature leading to jealousy and threatening to kill is domestic violence. Hitting, slapping  and hurting someone is entitled to punishment.

For promoting safety and awareness, a purple ribbon is used for that.
