We all live in a society which is based on the principles of freedom and equality. Which clearly states that there is an elimination of any kind of discrimination against the women. But with the current situation of the worldwide pandemic and with pandemic the words that come to our mind our stress, anxiety and somewhere depression. With all these underlying mental stress and negative impact on the mental state one is forced to act unusual than their normal behaviour. Pandemic is not just about the medical phenomenon but it affects the society and an individual in a psychological level. This pandemic is a very stressful phase which we are all going through, people are stuck at home with no work and empty minds which eventually results in stress and tension and which causes irritation and ultimately give rise to domestic violence. Its not that domestic violence is starting after this pandemic but it has always been in our society but this pandemic is surely making this worse.
Pandemic is a state which is affecting human’s mental peace as people are losing their jobs, daily wage earners are finding it difficult to fed their family and mostly people have lost their privacy as everyone is at home and always have to face each other. Peoples are frustrated and annoyed at this crucial time which they are taking out in a form of domestic violence. Before everyone was engaged in their work and hardly had time to face or interact with their loved ones or partners. But in this pandemic people have a lot of time to judge out and point out each other’s mistake which lead to disagreements and quarrels even in small matters.
Financial problems is also one of the important factor for this as people are losing jobs because of the curfew and lockdown so people are finding it difficult to cope up with their usual life and are stressed up in their work life. Also, not being able to express themselves out and not meeting up with friends to reduce their stress and being at home for 24 hours actually makes it difficult for anyone to maintain their calm and all these factors only add up to a stressful life which turns out a cause for domestic violence.
Surely, we are hoping for the end of this covid-19 situation but with this we should also hope for our positive mind and a healthy mental state to live in this stressful situation. The only way to reduce these domestic violence is to stay calm, engage ourselves in activities which reduce our stress and being available emotionally for each other because sometimes it not about staying under the same roof but to be for each other and to communicate with each other to know what they are dealing with.
Making a balance between the work-life and private life is a major thing we can do to keep ourselves away from stress.
