DOMESTIC VIOLENCE : NOT MEN ARE ALWAYS AT FAULT!!

First and foremost, you should be aware that Indian domestic violence rules/laws/acts are not gender neutral; they are solely designed to protect women.

The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act of 2005 was passed by India’s Parliament to protect women from domestic violence. It went into effect on October 26, 2006, when the Indian government signed it. The Act establishes a term of “domestic violence” for the first time in Indian law, with a comprehensive meaning that encompasses not just physical violence but also other forms of violence such as emotional/verbal, sexual, and economic abuse. It is a civil statute that is primarily used to issue protection orders and is not intended to be used to punish people criminally. The statute does not apply to Jammu and Kashmir, which has its own set of regulations, including the Jammu and Kashmir Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2010, which was passed in 2010.

Unfortunately, there is no law that protects a man who is subjected to constant violence in his home. Even if he is subjected to daily verbal, physical, and emotional torture, a woman can file a false case, but a guy cannot. If he distributes it, the entire society will believe he is a moron, and violence against guys is commonplace these days. Almost every comedy performance these days treats violence against men as a joke, and all of these men are unable to partake. It’s shocking that a man commits himself every 8 minutes, but no one seems to notice because all politicians are interested in vote bank politics. No one can aid men until and unless one guy respects another and sticks up for him.

There are also several bogus allegations of domestic abuse levelled against men by women. Gender should not be a factor in domestic abuse. Psychological and even physical torture are employed against men. Laws should safeguard both men and women, not just the former. Always keep in mind that whenever women’s rights are discussed, men’s rights should be discussed as well. Gender neutral laws should be enacted to ensure equality amongst the citizens of this country to make it a better place to live.
