“What we do to the planet, we do to ourselves”
You all may know that human health and environment are both inter-related with each other. But the thing we need to understand is, nature is doing a lot for us but what are we doing for it? What are we returning back to the nature? Humans these days are becoming greedy. We use natural resources but don’t initiate to save them for future. We ourselves are making our environment unhealthy for our living and unhealthy environment leads to unhealthy life. Many reports, environmental programs are being organized and recorded but what further? We make records, issue some guidelines, and follow them for a few weeks or months and then again keep neglecting our nature and environment.
Pollution nowadays has increased in large amount which alone can cause so many problems. Pollutants reach humans through the food we eat, air we breathe, and water we drink.
Imagine a situation, if you drink contaminated water it surely will result in some water born disease making your immunity low and causing you some disease. Due to these environmental issues millions of deaths and countless illnesses every year across the globe are happening. And no one else but we humans are only responsible for these things. Many children at very young age have to suffer from many problems which arise due to misbalance between humans and environment.
We are all aware of the fact that humans are dependent on the environment completely. We never thought of making are environment better by taking more care of it, by reserving it, never thought of making it more green instead we just took advantage and left it unbothered.
We in search of making our life cozier are producing many things just for our progress and secure future. But will our future be really secured if we don’t take care of our environment? Obviously not! Things we produce for our comfort are all secondary. The most important thing to keep us alive and free of health issues is safe and healthy environment. “If we take care of our environment, environment will take care of us.”
Studies on mental health were conducted which clearly says that exposure to nature helps reducing mental health issues. It keeps us calm, makes us realize that we are satisfied. These studies have linked the reduction of the symptoms of anxiety and depression and lowered stress levels to the presence of green space close by. In fact, people who move to urban areas that are greener were seen to have improved mental health.
In order to make our environment fresher and secure we can limit our exposures to toxins as much as possible on the individual level by consuming organic food, getting water tested before drinking also we can avoid using vehicles for nearby places and instead can walk or use bicycle which will also keep our body active and healthy. We are all waiting for some guidelines but none of us initiate to take step forward to protect our environment. We must take care of environment, the relationship between environment and human health is a bit complex but only because we are all not motivated to make major changes. We are waiting for irrefutable evidence; but by the time we get it, it might be too late.
At last I would end up this article by saying:
“Time spent in nature is never time wasted as one of the first conditions of the happiness is the link between human and nature which shall not be broken.”
