Environmental Campaigns

Maybe some of you have seen posters, ads, and the like carrying the exhortation ”Go Green!” But, what does it mean to ”go green”? It takes a variety of forms, but essentially, going green means being mindful of the natural environment and making economic choices that aren’t harmful to the earth. For example, this might mean purchasing a glass or ceramic water bottle instead of using disposable plastic water bottles. Plastic takes an incredibly long time to break down, and a significant percentage of plastic makes it to the oceans, where it kills plant and animal life. Going green might also involve using an all-natural hair-care product, instead of a can of aerosol spray containing toxic chemicals.

When people ”go green,” they are practicing environmental awareness. The term means exactly what you expect it to: being aware of the natural environment and making choices that benefit–rather than hurt–the earth. In recent years, environmental awareness has gained increased attention. It is fair to say it has become a bit of a trend: from environmentally friendly tiny homes to organic food, environmental awareness is a hot topic.

Some people choose to buy clothing and products that contain natural fibers/materials, rather than synthetic ones. Obviously, recycling is another huge part of demonstrating environmental awareness. Still, others who are extremely passionate about this issue become activists. They might march in protests or organize rallies/events. As we can see, environmental awareness takes many forms, and each person must figure out what specific practices work for them.

Environmental awareness campaigns refer to organizing and educating the general public about the importance of understanding our environment’s vulnerability and protecting it.

The only important thing to do with an environmental awareness campaign is to make people aware of the dangers of excessive consumption that we are doing than needed.

People need to better understand the threats to our planet to realize our environment’s depth of concern… Therefore, there is awareness of issues such as environmental health, global warming, and sustainable development.

As we are all responsible for damaging the environment, it is important for everyone to improve their environmental awareness. It is especially imperative to teach children about the importance of environmental awareness, to ensure that the lives of future generations are secure. As things stand, it’s the future generations that will be most affected by our actions. Therefore, we must equip our children with the tools necessary to behave in a responsible and informed way towards the environment.

Fortunately, environmentalists do not give up on spreading the word about the environment. Their campaigns are about conservation, preservation and sustainability. People need to understand that natural resources are limited and needs to be consumed efficiently. What we currently have needs to be conserved and preserved for the next generations to experience the same thing, and that is sustainability. Today we are able to meet or needs, but the problem is, we are compromising the ability of the next generations to meet theirs.

Through environmental campaigns, humans are becoming involved and participate on knowing how they can help minimize or lessen the negative impacts they are contributing to the environment.

Almost every campaigns are spread through the social media. Because as we all know, those who wants to reach a large audience needs to know where their market is. People have their accounts in every social media, that is why it is now easier for environmentalists reach out to people and disseminate the effects of a movement to the environment, the ways on how to mitigate the negative impacts, the means on how to have the most effective interpretation that will make them understand the significance, goals, and the objectives of an environmental campaign.

The Environment Minister emphasized that Government of India has already banned import of plastic waste in the country. The minister further recalled that, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for the first time brought out Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, for handling plastic waste in an environmentally sound manner. “Under the rules plastic carry bags below 50 microns have been banned. Many states/UTs have also banned identified single use plastic items. Further, the Ministry has issued a draft notification in March 2021 for amending the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, with respect to prohibiting identified 12 single use plastic items such as disposable plastic cutlery etc.”, stated Shri. Javadekar

Stressing the importance of public participation in elimination of single use plastic items, the Environment Minister said that awareness generation on plastic waste management and reduction in use of single use plastic items is vital in bringing about behavioural change. With this mission the minister launched a two-month awareness generation campaign on plastic waste management and elimination of identified single use plastic items.

Of course, being a part of an established environmental-awareness campaign is a great way to motivate yourself and others to care more about the planet. However, some citizens may find they are motivated to take it a step further by starting their own campaign. Doing so doesn’t have to be difficult, but a few key steps are involved if you want your campaign to be effective.

Whether you choose to use your voice by participating in local events, by changing your daily habits, or even by sharing environmental information on social media, the overarching point is that it’s good to get and stay involved. Environmental campaigns seek to spread the word that the earth’s resources are not infinite and must be preserved if we would like to continue to live on the planet. These campaigns offer meaningful solutions to some of our biggest environmental problems.
