Fitness, as we know it today, seems to be a relatively modern invention – something that started vaguely in the 70s with jogging and Jazzercise. But physical exercise obviously goes back much further than that, to a time where people wouldn’t have thought of it as working out, but rather a way of life. Centuries and millennia ago, they did not have all the machines and weights and gyms that we have today, and yet they were in better shape than we are. To understand why this is, how we got to our modern fitness culture, and what we have lost along the way, it’s helpful to take a look at the history of exercise. Throughout these years, fitness has evolved in a lot of ways. From building muscles by weight training, to having fun while doing Zumba for burning that stubborn body fat. Some people use fitness to stay healthy and have a longer lifespan, while some use it for having their dream body, and to look more attractive. Different people use fitness for different reasons.
There used to be a time, when weight training was said to be done only by men, as people used to think that lifting weights is only meant for building muscles, and having a bulky body, while women were asked to do cardio to burn all the excess fat they have on their body. Girls were asked to stay away from weight training as there was a myth that it will make women have a bulky and muscular body like the bodybuilders. But now the times have changed. Nowadays even women have started lifting weights, as the myth of them having bulky and muscular bodies is not all true. “Yes, with the new technologies being introduced every day, the concept of fitness has changed a lot!! Now it is not only about being muscular, but also about keeping the body healthy from inside by doing various cardiovascular exercises is also a thing.
Yes, Zumba and aerobics work really well, and since it is not very basic like weight training/ running on a treadmill, people tend to enjoy it more and have fun, thus, they never miss out on their scheduled sessions. n. Nowadays some people prefer Zumba, aerobics and dance more than normal cardio as they think that it is a more fun way to work out without feeling bored. People who enjoy sports like badminton, squash, football and swimming can lose weight just by engaging in their favourite sports. Nowadays, we can see that not only are there gyms, but also Zumba and aerobics classes everywhere. If some people find regular gymming boring, then they still have a lot of other choices to lose weight.
However, in recent years, more and more fitness related smartphone applications including workout planners, calorie counters, support forums, and many more fitness cantered resources have become available to the public. This big move from time sensitive face-to-face fitness instruction to convenient face-to-screen instruction has changed the way that the fitness industry operates. With the rising rollout of fitness apps geared toward the convenience of the user, fitness instructors, personal trainers, and the like have had to go to extreme measures in order to keep up with the rapidly changing digital fitness environment.
The fitness industry is an industry which any person, business or organisations who focuses on exercise, health, and overall maintenance of the body participate in.
Fitness industry includes both profit and non-profit organisations whose aims are to promote healthy lifestyles, fit and strong body.
