Particular foods, that I avoid during monsoon

Monsoon, is no doubt my favorite season of the year. The few drops of rain, makes me feel calm inside. No matter how bad my mood is, a fresh breeze or just one look at the beautiful rain and it can change my mood. Earlier, when I was single, monsoon meant unlimited treats  of junk food, right from piping hot potato fritters to french fries to chinese food, to anything and everything, that is oily and spicy. But now my priorities have changed and now I have become more restrictive on my choice of food as I have a tiny toddler, who sits with me and consumes the same food, especially if it is unhealthy.

So here is a list of few foods, that I particularly, try and avoid during monsoon:

1. Outside Food:- For Obvious reasons , wI prefer, not to have junk food or street food, for my little one as he can easily catch throat infection. So now a days deep fried fritters and road side food is just a dream. Even though we make the same at home, it will never taste the same.

2. Cold Drinks and Ice creams:- Not that many people do prefer to have these during the monsoon season, but on somedays, when it is really warm, I still would not prefer to have cold drinks and Ice Cream. The reason being children are more prone to be  unwell during monsoon than any other time and cold Drinks and Ice Creams can only trigger the illness.

3. Raw Salad: Leafy Vegetables. No harm in consuming them, but it just that a lot of times, I have come across a lot of worms, while cleaning leafy vegetables, which is something I desist.

4. Unseasonable Fruits:- Thanks to the technology, now a days fruits and vegetables are available even at unseasonable time. There are some varieties of mangoes, that are even available during the monsoon seasons. I feel that the amount of pesticides and chemicals sprayed on these fruits and vegetables may be excess and that is the reason for their availability during the monsoon season. Apart from that a couple of times, I found worms in them. So now unseasonal fruits are a big no to me.

5. Fruits and vegetables, which are naturally cold:- There are some fruits and vegetables, that are naturally cold and if consumed during rainy season or winter seasons, may become one of the reasons for cold and cough. Foods such as Amla (Indian Gooseberry), Aloe Vera,Cucumbers are something that I generally avoid for my littleone.

6. Excess amount of Tea, coffee or Hot Chocolate:- The cool weather, tempts you to curl up on the bed all day long with a cup of a Hot Beverage. As much as it may seem romantic, excess amount of caffine may cause harm to your digestive system. Cocoa on the other hand may also cause respiratory allergies to some children. It is therefore advisable to have them in a limited quantity.

So hereunder was my list of food that I avoided: Do let me know the food that you avoid.
