Free Education to Girls is Injustice to Boys

May be, maybe not.
Both of these parts have their own reasons and they are independent of each other.
Women education in India is very important for both government and civil societies as educated women can play a very important role in developing nation. It enables them to face the challenges, confront their traditional role and change their life.

With the current alarming rate of female illiteracy and female foeticide, this doesn’t seem like injustice to boys. Even if girls are not killed, they aren’t allowed to have such a basic privilege like education. Empowering the girl is empowering the nation. Education doesn’t prevail over one’s gender. So it’s not injustice but the urge to provide education to girls which isn’t provided by their family itself. However, education for girls is very poor and unsatisfactory in India. There is no comparison of the lives of girls with the lives of boys. Here, customs and traditions eat away the freedom of women. The government, also, is not able to provide full-proof security to girls. There is only a post mortem and a punishment after the violence is committed and women are also reluctant to report violence against them due to various kinds of after-effects.

But at the same time, this is exactly opposite of what equality stands for. This might be an injustice to the boys who are willing to study but cannot due to many reasons like poverty, family issues, etc.

Due to poverty, when parents are engaged in production of items, then they encourage their children to help them in sales. Boys are allowed to engage in this job after school hours but girls are denied education due to limited financial reasons. Their male siblings teach them basic of what they’ve learned in school, to enhance their basic literacy skills of reading, writing and numeracy. Naturally, when parents have limited financial resources, they save it for their girl’s marriage instead of spending them on her education. Another traditional viewpoint is that the girls in their marital home would not be able to utilize their education skills but the household responsibilities. Hence, due to such traditional viewpoints, girls are denied some of their basic rights and opportunities.

So this discussion is never ending and will go for an eternity.
India will not fully develop unless both girls and boys are equally educated to reach their full potential. During adolescence, world of girls typically shrinks whereas world of boys expand. So, in order to engage girls socially and economically, it requires a high level of efforts and investments but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t make any effort to give quality education to boys because approximately 47% of the primary school aged children out of the school are boys.
According to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, ‘If you educate a man you educate an individual, however, if you educate a woman you educate a whole family. Women empowered means mother India empowered.’

Women play an important role in making the nation progressive and guide it towards development. The education develops the idea of participation in government for elimination in gender discrimination.
