In 1975, the Indochina War took place for nearly two years. Due to food shortages, economic problems, poverty, GDP decline and many other problems, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency during the state of emergency. All the rights of citizens have been violated. So India was facing a lot of problems at that time, because there were various changes in the Indian Constitution, some things were deleted, some things were introduced, and the basic obligations were introduced at that time. According to the government, citizens only pay attention to their own rights and never consider their own obligations. Therefore, the government introduced basic obligations in 1976. A committee called Sardar Swaran Singh  decided to form a separate responsibility in the Indian Constitution, allowing them to recommend or report the basic responsibilities accepted by the Indian National Assembly and the Indian National Assembly.

 They brought the 42nd amendment of the law of 1976, which included the chapter on value-added tax, which included Article 51A. This article discussed 10 basic obligations of Indian citizens, and then introduced the 86th amendment in 2002. An obligation has been added. In general, we now have 11 basic responsibilities that we must perform as citizens of India. Basic duty is defined as carrying the spirit of patriotism with the help of moral obligations and maintaining the unity of all the citizens of India. Its main objective is to remind citizens that while citizens have some basic rights, they now also have certain obligations to fulfill. If you enjoy the basic rights that are granted to us instead of the rights and freedoms of certain obligations that we must fulfill, these rights and obligations are interrelated.

The 11 fundamental duties are:-

1. Abide by the Constitution and respect its ideals and systems, flag and national anthem.
2. Appreciate and follow the noble ideals that inspired our nation to fight      for freedom.
3. Defend and protect the sovereignty of India , Unity and completeness
4. Defend the country and provide national services upon request.
5. Promote the spirit of harmony and common brotherhood among all people in India, transcending religion, language, and regional or regional diversity; abandon practices that undermine the dignity of women.
6. Cherish and protect the rich heritage of our complex culture.
7. Protect and improve the natural environment, including forests, lakes, rivers and wild animals, and be sympathetic to living things.
8. Carry forward the scientific temperament, humanistic spirit and the spirit of exploration and reform.
9. Protect public property and oppose violence.
10. Pursue excellence in all areas of individual and collective activities, and make the country continue to rise to a higher level of efforts and achievements.
11. Who are the parents or guardians for their children or when appropriate Provide education opportunities for wards between the ages of 6 and 14.

The objectives of the fundamental duties are

1. The Fundamental Duties work as a warning for any Anti- Social activities .
2. The Fundamental Duties are kind of Reminder to the citizens about their duties.
3. The Fundamental Duties promote commitment and discipline.
4. The Fundamental Duties helps the citizens to realise actively participation for the nation.
5. The fundamental Duties main objective is to become a responsible citizen of the country.

The Fundamental duties are needed and important for the constitution of India as it prescribe the fundamental obligations of the state to its citizens and the duties of the citizens towards the state. Fundamental Duties were added in our constitution as our government realises that the civil society cannot be made only by the state. The individuals played a very important role for achieving the aim of our constitution. These duties not only defined the civic duties but also it defined the moral duties or obligations of all the citizens of India by helping them to promote the spirit of Patriotism as well as to uphold the unity of india.The duties towards the nation as mentioned in PartIV-A or article 51A of our constitution these duties are morally obliged to the citizens of India.
