Introduction
Prime minister Narender modi on 13 october kicked off PM Gati Shakti a national master plan for synchronising connectivity infrastructure projects across modes of transport, and said it will help india realise its dream of becoming the “business capital” of the world. It is a project on which 100 lakh crore fund is declared by the PM to transform India.
In short, the aim of this plan is to do infrastructure development across the whole country which would increase employment as well as export to other countries which will also led to increase in economic growth of the country. This plan is a long way plan which will completely change the infrastructure of the country in next 24-25 years.
As we all know, now a days the required time to make any new building, road, bridge etc is 4-5 years which is very long duration, so decrease this long time period, a proper managed plan for making any infrastructure should be there under which all the respective ministries work together, so that fast infrastructural development of our country is possible. So to overcome this, the national master plan aims at bringing in holistic planning and development across the country. The gati shakti digital platform will bring together 16 ministries including rail and roadways with the main of coordinated planning and execution of infrastructure projects to bringn down logistics cost. PM highlighted the need for holistic and integrated development across departments to crate next generation infrastructure. And he also added that it is globally accepted that creation of quality infrastructure for sustainable development is a proven way, which gives rise to many economic activities and creates employment on a large scale. The pm also mentioned that the people of india, Indian industry, Indian business, Indian manufacturers, Indian farmers are at thr centre of the gati shakti campaign.
According to a study, the logistical growth in india is about 13 percent of GDP. Such a situation does not exist in developed countries. So PM said that along with cutting logistics costs, the scheme is also aimed at increasing cargo handling capacity and reducing the turn around time at ports to boost trade. All economic zones and infrastructure developments depicted in a single integrated platform will provide spatial visibility of physical linkages. It will also aid concerned ministries and departments to prioritize connectivity last mile connectivity to economic zones in a defined time frame.
Conclusion
This national master plan will boost economic growth, attracting foreign investments and enhance the country’s global competitiveness there by enabling smooth transportation of goods and services and creating employment opportunities. According to me, as this project is working for rapid growth and results, so it will be beneficial for only big businesses and small enterprise of rural areas will again not get any chance to increase their businesses. So during this project , the government should focus firstly on rural and small towns development by giving the chance to small enterprise also. And also it should be keep in mind that for infrastructure development, there should be no comprise with our environment. The development should be sustainable development without causing any harm to the environment so that this rapid growth will not led to degradation of natural resources.
