Global Warming: A real cause?
Almost from first standard we are learning about environment. Whether its benefits or drawbacks. There is no person alive who as not seen nature. One thing we all agree is how beautiful environment is. Not just beautiful its is helpful too. This is what one generally forgets. That environment is not just luxury but a necessity.
One is aware of the good fullness of nature and how we cannot survive without it. But we are also aware about the bad face of nature. The disasters. Whether it is floods, tsunami, Earthquakes, volcano eruption, draught etc. It affects all of us in the worst manner. And from last few years in some or other ways we are witnessing it.
And all of this change is nothing but Global Warning. And soon if we don’t care about the same then it’s going to affect us in worst manner. We may even loose our mother planet Earth. Not only earth we will lose us. The human lives.
As the current warming trend is of particular significance as it is the result of human activity since the mid-20th century and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented. Scientists are able to see the big picture, they’ve been collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on a global scale.
Ice glaciers drawn from Greenland, Antarctica, South and North Pole and tropical mountain glaciers show that our planet’s climate responds to changes in greenhouse gas levels. Similar evidence can also be traced in tree rings, ocean sediments, coral reefs, and layers of sedimentary rocks.
Earth’s average surface temperature has risen about 1.18 degrees Celsius since the late 19th century. Oceans have been heating up too. The top 100 meters have rose to 0.33 degrees Celsius. Glaciers are disappearing everywhere around the world whether its Himalayas or Alps, Alaska etc. Global sea level rose about 20 centimetres in the last century. More and more wildfires, cyclone, floods, earthquakes have been witnessed every year around the world.
People who think global warming isn’t real generally believe
- Earth’s 4.5-billion-year history, the climate has changed a lot, and that’s why we can see these fluctuations. But they don’t realise this is not natural phenomenon rather anthropogenic (man-made) climate change. the warming of Earth’s average temperature as a result of human activity, such as burning coal, oil, and gas to produce energy to fuel our homes and transport and cutting down trees to produce the food we eat.
- Plants do need carbon dioxide to live. Plants and forests remove and store away huge amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year. There’s so much carbon dioxide they can absorb, and this amount is getting less, as more and more forests are cut down across the world, largely to produce our food.
- It’s a commonly believed that renewable energy is expensive and a money-making scheme
- Animals and plants will adapt climate change. Some plants and animals will adapt but not all and eventually will become extinct. And lead to gap in life cycle and lead to more extinctions.
Whether on believes or not sooner rather than later we will witness it or one’s child will face it. Its high point that we accept it and start working on it. Whether it’s smallest of things we need to start doing. Small things will matter like throwing dry waste and wet waste on reusing bags and containers, reducing using plastic items and using biodegradable products. This is something we have been hearing since our childhood but how many of us are following it. Even a first started student knows about his techniques. It’s high time we start using it. And encourage others to use it. More we will go green less we will have to suffer.
One has to literally follow the slogan go green don’t be mean. Let’s save our home a home without neither we nor others can live.
