Mental Health was a topic that was unspoken about until a few years ago. Since last few years I have been very conscious about my Mental Health. Especially after I passed through the phase of Post Partum Depression. I gathered the broken pieces of my life and move ahead, more confidently than ever. Writing was one of my hobbies that helped me grow immensely as a person.
There are certain things that I consciously do or try to involve it in my routine to be happy.
Apply a Face Mask
Applying a Face Mask somehow makes me feel fresh and forget about my worries. Since last few months, I have been consciously taking out 5- 10 mins in a day to apply a Face Mask. It just somehow makes me feel that I am important and my mind is my first priority. I know it is something un usual but somehow it has helped me begin with my day calmly.
Take a Short Walk
Everyday from the last few days, I do go downstairs with the kids. I ensure that I get to walk atleast 5 – 10 mins peacefully without my kids bothering me, with music. Amazon Prime Music is my new BFF. I also listen to some good Podcast or Ted Talk during this small 10 mins walk. This helps me to refresh and restart my mind. Most of the times, I do it when I am Brain Dead or at loss of ideas.
Spend Time talking to Cats
I am a huge Cat Lover and my building has a lot of stray cats. My kids are friendly with those cats and so they are also my friends. Some how cats help me to stay calm. They manage to look peaceful and beautiful at all times, I don’t know how do they manage to do it. But somehow since childhood I have been fascinated by Cats.
Binge watch K-Drama and Big Bang Theory
K- Drama is my recent obsession. I just finished watching Her Private Life. Though I generally prefer thrillers and avoid Romantic Movies. The reason being simple because in Indian Cinema you have 50 year old uncles pretending to be 25, (Men pretending to be younger than their age itself is a big turn off. ) romance 20 year old girls. The lesser said the better. K Dramas somehow make you blush and take you in a different world. The stories are short and crisp and end in 16-18 episodes max. So yes it is relaxing.
Big Bang Theory is one of the serials according to me, which is close to perfect .It is hilarious, sensitive and realistic.
Watch Stand up Comedy
I enjoy some good Stand Up Comedy shows. My Favourite Stand Up Comedians are Rahul Dua, Abish Mathew, Sumukhi Suresh, Naveen Richard and Kenny Sebastian. Sometimes, listening to mindless banter is refreshing. Also Stand Up comedy is one of the best ways to learn about Public Speaking. Making people laugh is one of the biggest challenges and doing it in front of Live Audience, understanding their reactions and then modifying their content accordingly.
Content Creation
I loved writing since childhood. Writing is like a therapy for me. It always makes me happy and once I express my feelings through words. I also do enjoy Photography. I love taking pictures of Cats.
Eat something that I Love
Favourite Food is Chinese. Chinese Food is bae and can make me happy at any given point of time. I also do love deep fried food. Yes I know it is something that is not recommended and I do try and avoid this food as much as possible.
It is difficult to understand your mind but it is important that you take care of your mind and body. Mental Health is very important considering the fast and tedious lifestyle that we deal with. I started with a career which gives me the flexibility to spend sometime with myself and take a break, whenever I can.
So that is my story about Mental Health. Do tell me how do you take care of Mental Health.
