Human rights is something that every individual deserves to get by birth until death. A human is said to be the most intelligent creature on earth. I believe a human is sent upon earth to help make it a better place to live in along with other creatures. Every human is equal in the court of law no one’s is above someone or under someone. Even the preamble of the constitution of India says that the objectives stated in it are to secure justice, equality to all citizens and promote fraternity to maintain unity and integrity of the nation. India being a democratic country infact promotes human rights.
This also leads us towards the fundamental rights laid down in the constitution
1. Right to equality- it says all humans are equal in the eyes of law,
2. Right to freedom- it says everyone has the freedom of speech and movement,
3. Right against exploitation- it says if any labour or any minor has been exploited at the workplace then they have a right to raise a voice,
4. The right to freedom of religion – it says any human can profess any religion,
5. Cultural and educational rights- can persue education of his choice and can follow any culture of his wish,
6. The right to constitutional remedies- it says everyone has a right to legal remedies.
So infringing any human’s right will only lead in chaotic conditions. Although they can be sometimes restricted for example if a person breaks the law or is in the interests of National security. These basic rights are based in shared values like dignity, integrity, fairness, equality, respect and independence. The universal declaration of human rights is a historic document which outlined the Rights and freedom which everyone is entitled to. This document is a milestone in Human Rights. Ithad been translated in about 500 languages. Human rights are an integral part of every human being.
These rights are inheritent from the basic fact of being human. These rights are very crucial for the development of a person. Every individual is entitled to these rights and anyone hindering these rights can be punished. Enforcement of the human rights is need of the hour as we have witnessed a global pandemic. Covid has been that unforeseen storm that has plagued our lives for almost a year now. It is important for us to now introspect in these times the true meaning of being human and what it is to be humane. The pandemic has brought out some of the best values amongst humans. Several warriors are putting their lives at stake just to protect others. It is time we move beyond barriers of religion, sex, region and inculcate in us the values of global citizens.
We must ensure that we stand up and speak up against any discriminatory behaviour that we witness around us. We all have a role in this from government to organisation to individual. Let’s commit to our individual role and recall all the hardships our leader had to go through in order to give birth to these rights.
