This movie was released when I was in my first year of law college. That is in the year 2008. I was not a huge fan of Kareena Kapoor then, so was not that keen on watching this movie.
Somehow, one fine day, I ended up watching this movie on the Television and I fell in love with this movie and especially Geet.
Now before I tell you, why this movie is so special, here is a small summary of the storyline.
Geet (Kareena Kapoor), is a hostelite, studying in Mumbai and Aditya Kashyap (Shahid Kapoor) is a Businessman going through his rainy days. Geet has completed her course and she was heading back to her Hometown at Bhatinda. Aditya Kashyap, a millionaire and a reputed businessman has just attended, his ex- girlfriend’s wedding as a Zombie and has just boarded a random train.
An Empty 3 tier AC Compartment with these two passengers moves towards its journey. Aditya just decides to get down at Ratlam Station and Geet decides to follow. Thus began their adventure of Geet and ADitya. Aditya is someone who is trying to escape all his worries and problems and there is Geet, who invites trouble, when she tries to help people in good faith. Unknowingly, Aditya falls in love with her but Geet has made complete plans to elope with her Boyfriend Anshuman. As a typical bollywood twist, Anshuman ditches her and Geet is now wandering alone in the streets of Shimla. Now Geet has become like Aditya and Aditya has become like Geet.

So why is this my favorite movie ?
Well there are multiple reasons for the same.
Though I am not a huge fan of Kareena Kapoor, the character of Geet made me fall in love with her. She is someone, whom I want to be in real life. Somebody, who is deeply in love with her self, bindaas, not worried about the consequences. Our life is very short and therefore we need to live every moment and not worry about the future. I am a person who is more concerned about “Log Kya Kahenge” and probably that self explains, why I have a small and limited social circle. Though my friends say that I am a wise person and avoid unnecessary headaches (aka people). My friends say that I am lucky because of my reticent nature, I am automatically away from unnecessary gossip and interference by other people.
This movie is all about self love and owning your decision. Yes, she did commit a mistake of running away from her home, but she owned the consequence of her decision. It takes courage to be your own favourite in this world, when the entire world is looking forward to put your down. There is a thin line in being obsessed about yourself and loving yourself and this movie portrays that difference very beautifully. Even after so many years, I never miss an opportunity to re-watch this movie once in a while.
It is a simple movie, which touches your heart. Nothing glamourous or over the top, infact all of Kareena’s outfit’s are something that almost every girl had in her wardrobe.
Do watch this movie, in your spare time, if you want to learn how to love yourself and how to fight for yourself.
