FIRST YOU TAKE A DRINK, THEN THE DRINK TAKES A DRINK, THEN THE DRINK TAKES YOU.
This is something that I never understand. When everyone of us are aware about the bad effects and bad taste of the alcohol then why we still drink it.? Is it that the going generation start this to look cool by seeing others or this genuinely do has something positive that it attracts the masses.
Most people learn drinking watching other people do it and emulating people who they think are cooler than them. It’s a social construct. Though, the high becomes addictive very soon and then it becomes about more than just looking cool. What we see we get inspired of that and like to do that either it is good or bad. Especially the youth are today more inspired by these all habits, and they don’t care about the taste. Just to follow the trend they can do anything without thinking about their health hazards. Its well known that “excess of anything is harmful” , if we try alcohol for once or twice, or we take it occasionally then it is not bad but if we start liking it and taking it in a regular basis then it is harmful for us.
For some people, drinking alcohol is a way of relieving stress. The alcohol numbs them to the various stressors in their life, such as work, school, relationships, money, etc. The irony is that when people drink too often to cope with their stress, they usually make the problems they’re stressed out about even worse, and they can develop worse problems, like alcoholism.
Peer Pressure:-Many people drink just because the people around them are drinking, and they might feel an indirect peer pressure to drink so they aren’t the odd one out. Someone might feel obligated to drink when the rest of their co-workers are enjoying happy hour, for example. Direct peer pressure is even stronger, and it’s when people are actively encouraging someone to drink. It can be very hard to say no to a drink when someone is pushing it in your face, and it’s even harder for youth who are being ridiculed for not drinking.
Fun:-People generally tend to drink alcohol in order to have fun. Being drunk makes them feel happy and spirited, and drinking alcohol with friends can be a fun experience. If people are nervous in social situations, drinking helps them let loose and have more fun. People drink to have fun at parties.
Consuming liquor can have both the positive and negative side . Generally people consume liquor for the fun but there is lot of negative impact if it is not consumed in limited amount. Alcohol consumption can have detrimental social and economic implications for the individual drinker, the immediate environment of the drinker and society as a whole. Individuals other than the drinker may, for instance, be affected by road accidents or crime. In terms of services needed for criminal justice, health care and other social institutions, it has an effect on society as a whole.

The relationship between alcohol and domestic violence is complex and the precise role of alcohol remains unclear. Heavy drinking has been strongly linked to violence between partners.
Alcohol plays a role in a substantial number of domestic violence incidents. The relationship between alcohol and domestic violence is complex and the precise role of alcohol remains unclear. Heavy drinking has been strongly linked to violence between partners and to a lesser extent to violence towards others, possibly because proximity increases the opportunities for violence.
Alcohol is not an ordinary commodity. While it carries connotations of pleasure and sociability in the minds of many, harmful consequences of its use are diverse and widespread
From a global perspective, in order to reduce the harm caused by alcohol, policies need to take into account specific situations in different societies. Average volumes consumed and patterns of drinking are two dimensions of alcohol consumption that need to be considered in efforts to reduce the burden of alcohol-related problems. Avoiding the combination of drinking and driving is an example of measures that can reduce the health burden of alcohol.
Worlwide, alcohol takes an enormous toll on lives and communities, especially in developing countries and its contribution to the overall burden of disease is expected to increase in the future. Particularly worrying trends are the increases in the average amount of alcohol consumed per person in countries such as China and India and the more harmful and risky drinking patterns among young people.
National monitoring systems need to be developed to keep track of alcohol consumption and its consequences, and to raise awareness amongst the public and policy-makers. It is up to both governments and concerned citizens to encourage debate and formulate effective public health policies that minimize the harm caused by alcohol.
