MENTAL HEALTH : A SERIOUS ISSUE

The term ‘mental health’ refers to your state of mind. Positive mental health is about feeling a general sense of wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem. Good mental health is important not only for getting through the day, but also for forming healthy connections with people and living the life you want. The importance of mental health is equal to that of physical health. Because the brain is an organ, it can become ill. When you feel anything is wrong with your physical body, your first reaction is to take medicine or go to the doctor. That should be the case with mental health as well. The brain, like every other organ in the body, is susceptible to dysfunction. Mens sana in corpore sano, as the saying goes – In a healthy body, a healthy mind is essential.

Mental health is serious issue which needs to be addressed more often. Why people don’t take this seriously? Why people take it as a joke? I think it’s high time, people should realise that depression is real and we should help people to cope with mental health issues to make our society worth living. We all have ups and downs, but persistent mental health concerns can indicate a mental disorder. Mental illnesses, such as depression and anxiety disorders, have a greater impact on thoughts, feelings, and behaviour than mental health problems, and can be overpowering. Mental diseases, fortunately, may typically be properly treated or managed. Things have gotten worse as a result of Covid, and people are more agitated than they were before. It is critical to maintain one’s health. Mental illness is not anything to be ashamed about. It can have an impact on how we act and interact. It will eventually have an impact on the people around us.

Some of the most common mental illnesses are depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and eating disorders. If you suspect you or someone you know is suffering from a mental health problem, seek professional treatment and encourage someone you know who is suffering from a similar problem to visit a doctor, counsellor, or psychologist. Learn everything you can about your disease, including what causes symptoms, the best treatments, and how to help yourself. Get support — even if you don’t feel like it, make an effort to chat to family and friends. It’s critical to maintain contact with those who care. Find out what community support is available that meets your specific needs, in addition to getting the finest therapies possible. Everyone is different, so it’s crucial to find the assistance that works best for you at any given time.

It’s important to be aware of your mental health because it has an impact on you and people around you. Your mental health is something that should be taken seriously. If you’re having trouble dealing, the greatest thing you can do is get assistance. Our emotional, psychological, and social well-being are all part of our mental health. It has an impact on how we think, feel, and act. It also influences how we handle stress, relate to people, and make decisions. Mental health is crucial at every stage of life, from childhood through adolescent to adulthood.
