NALANDA UNIVERSITY.

India was called the golden bird. You know why? since we topped in knowledge we had books, texts, vedas for everything, from medicine to stars and cure for number of disease but what happened now why we lack in fields of education even though we had Nalanda University where number of travellers came just to attain knowledge in different fields. There was a time when people from different countries travelled to India to acquire knowledge but now it’s the Indians who has to travel to different countries to gain knowledge that once India had. Since it all started when our golden treasure the treasure of knowledge was burnt down into ashes by Baktiyar Khilji.

Baktiyar khilji burnt down the university in a jealousy that India had a knowledge of everything, we all know that science, maths all came from India. Aryabhata the mathematician the man who invented zero was a part of Nalanda, chandrakirti student of Nagarjuna was here. Can u imagine if we still had Nalanda and Baktiyar khilji wont have destroyed it in a fear of India doing wonders in every field since we had texts for all the fields like history, economics, science, astronomy, medicine architecture etc, what India would have been from what it is now

Nalanda called as the second most greatest university ever built in the history of India. It is said that if we still had the access of the books and knowledge that were given in this University then India would have have topped in all educational fields, since everything was thought here starting from medical to astronomy. Vedas and Buddhism was taught. Nalanda stored lakhs of books that belonged to all the fields of eduction. If we still had all these books and knowledge then, India would have never lacked behind in the field of eduction and knowledge. Great philosophers of that time mathematicians and researchers invaded India to seek knowledge from this University.

Nalanda is the name of an ancient center of higher learning in Bihar, India. Nalanda is presently located in Gaya, Bihar of India, it was also the Buddhist center of learning from 427 to 1197 CE. The name Nalanda means the giver of knowledge, where “Nalan” means lotus which indicates knowledge and “Da” means the giver. So, it presents the giver of knowledge. Nalanda was built under the patronage of the Gupta Empire in the 5th and 6th centuries and then later under the emperor Harsha. This also used to conduct entrance exams for the admission at that time. Harshvardhan known as Harsha used to fund a lot to this university as this university was completely free no rent or fee was taken from the students, even the hostel and mess was completely free for the students. Yes, this is quite strange to know that at that time in 5th and 6th century university provides facilities like hostel, library, mess and that too free. The library of Nalanda was multistory and was divided in four sections consisiting lakhs of books. This was one of the biggest library India ever had but was burned into ashes.
Nalanda University currently is an quarry as it was destroyed for about three times and rebuilt twice, a new Nalanda University has been built but that is a complete new campus and away from the original Nalanda.
One of the biggest Dynasty that came in the Indian history was the Gupta dynasty and in this Kumar Gupta was the greatest ruler, he built a lot of monuments in his reign in which Nalanda University was the one. As already written it was destroyed for three times so when it was destroyed for the second time by gauravas which was rebuilt by Harsha in the 7th century the emperor of Kannauj. It was not built again when was badly destroyed by Baktiyar khilji , as he made the University burn for 3 days, burnt all the books and then was never restored or built back again. The library was so strong that it took three months to completely destroy it. Baktiyar khilji also killed the monks and scholars in the university. Baktiyar Khilji got disturbed by the fact that how the Indian scholars and monks know more than the people of his court, he decided to destroy the roots of knowledge, Buddhism and Ayurveda, from the country. So he decided to set fire to the great library of nalanda and burned down nearly 9 million manuscripts.
