ONLINE EDUCATION

ABSTRACT

With educational institutes closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has been encouraging online education to achieve academic continuity. Most high-end private and public institutions have made the switch smoothly using online platforms such as Zoom, Google classrooms, Microsoft teams, etc., while many still find it a herculean task. The challenges of online education are multifaceted. It is time that we Indians, as a society, understand the realms of online education in India, for India. 

INTRODUCTION

Online education refers to the use of electronic applications and learning processes. For online education, important connections like internet connection, computers, smartphones, etc. are required. Education is an important part of our life, it can also make our future and if it is not taken care of properly, it can also spoil. The process of learning and teaching in online education takes place through the electronic medium that is done through digital platforms. It enables students to gain educational experience through technology.bOnline education includes an electronic way of learning and teaching. Online education takes place outside the classroom through digital platforms. Online education can be delivered in the form of lessons, animation, audio, video, and images.

IMPACT OF ONLINE EDUCATION IN PANDEMIC SITUATION

COVID-19 has closed schools around the world. Globally, more than 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom. As a result, education has changed considerably with the rise of e-learning, under which teaching is carried out on digital platforms. Due to the high demand for online education, many online learning platforms are providing their services free of cost, including platforms like BYJU’S, Unacademy, Careerwill, CBSE Digital Education, etc.

ADVANTAGES

Online education allows for learning something beyond the norm. A learner has access to unlimited topics and global experts in niche subjects – something otherwise not affordable or imaginable for many. Online programs allow people of a wide age group to learn at their own pace, without inhibitions, and without compromising on their other responsibilities.  With the emergence and spread of COVID-19 in India, online education has trickled down to the most basic level — schools and colleges! When asked about their experience with online teaching, a student from a college in Bengaluru said, ​“The online option is a need in this pandemic situation. It has brought education to us without us going anywhere, and it is more flexible”. Probably, students are finding it a welcome change from strict schedules and long-distance commutes to attend classes. For some others, who find learning in large classes intimidating, this may be a less stressful option. Many teachers are making the best of this situation by exploring new methods of teaching and assessment.

1.) There is not enough school college in a huge country like India. With the option of online education, the pressure on schools and colleges will be reduced and there will be freedom for parents and children to read and teach in their own way, that is, the imperative of admission in school college will be over.

2.) By encouraging online education, students will also gain new knowledge. Also, the allegations of shortage of teachers can also be removed.

3.) Through online education, the teaching of classes is being made more due to which children are paying more and more attention to it.

4.) Online education is also environmentally beneficial because the dependence on online will reduce the need for copies and books.

DISADVANTAGES

Using the internet for entertainment is common, but for online lessons is a big challenge. Teachers may not be well-versed with creating digital content, and conveying it effectively online. A sudden expectation from them to upgrade, and from students to adapt, is unfair.

Body language and eye contact, which are important cues for the teacher, are difficult to perceive in an online class. ​“I do not receive continual feedback in the form of students’ reactions during online sessions, which reduces the effectiveness of teaching”, says a college teacher in suburban Mumbai. How many students have paid attention in a class? Of those, how many understood the lesson? Is the teaching pace alright? Are some students getting left behind? These questions arise even in traditional classrooms, but they are harder to address in online classes.

1.) Online education is related to a computer-based network, which requires many devices which are quite expensive. Due to this, it is not possible for everyone to get online education.

2.) According to the new survey, online education is adversely the physical and mental health of children.

3.) The home environment will not be suitable for the study of online education, as students can get distracted by games, social media (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc,) at home, while schools and colleges have an organized learning environment.

4.) Online education can affect the learning ability of the students because student is not able to become an active part of the study then his / her motivation may be lost.

CONCLUSION

It can be said about online education that there are some challenges in online education that must be overcome. Also, the benefits of online education are more as per the situation today. Online classes has grown significantly due to the digital age and the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Tips for Moot Court Competition

Moot court competitions are one of the most enjoyable aspects of law school extracurricular activities. The concept of moot court competitions is straightforward: they are intended to simulate a court hearing. Through moot courts, the law school provides students with a taste of what it is like to be in a courtroom. Even though it is a requirement in the final year, most law schools hold inter and intramoot court competitions throughout the year to help students improve their mooting skills.  The student usually receives a factsheet, which provides a brief understanding of the dispute in question between two or more parties who are assigned to either the Plaintiff or Defendant’s side of the dispute. The fact sheet is usually provided to the students.   These teams are tasked with creating a fact sheet that includes two speakers and a couple of researchers, among other things. Within the time limit, the students must conduct research into their cases, develop arguments, and prepare responses to the dispute in the form of petitions and affidavits in opposition. Then, on the big day, the participants must defend their positions in front of a panel of judges, who will score them based on a variety of factors including their overall performance. It could be anything from researching to drafting to making an oral presentation.   Let us talk about how to prepare for moot court presentations in greater detail.  Understand the laws that apply to you.  As a law student, you must be familiar with the relevant statutes. You are not permitted to enter the moot court without having completed any prior research or preparation. As a result, you should always begin with the facts of your case. If you’ve been given any sample briefs, make sure to read them thoroughly.  The goal is to:   state the most persuasive arguments for your side;   clarify any points that were not made clear in the written material;   address any weaknesses in your case;   and be familiar with the counterarguments to your opponent’s arguments.  Recognize the relevant facts of the situation.  Each and every page of the case should be familiar and understandable to you. At all times during the debate, you should present yourself as the expert on the facts and be able to answer any questions from the panel.   Consider taking your time when framing your arguments.  Keep in mind that your arguments should be natural and organic in nature. Your oral submissions will be judged on how well you frame your arguments. It must be constructed with a great deal of patience and consideration.  …
