OTT i.e. “OVER THE TOP”, which refers to any media service that provides streaming of video content like T.V shows and movies via various apps or websites over the internet instead of traditional distribution networks such as cable and DTH.
You must be knowing that everything has its pros and cons. So, considering OTT platforms, it also has its pros and cons. These platforms are a great source of entertainment but nowadays the content in various series and movies are not appropriate. There should be proper check on the content made before releasing. Teenage that’s a young and growing age and will follow what it sees. Not everyone takes the content as per entertainment, some may take it personal or serious and start practicing the things which may not be good and even void. Nowadays for increasing TRP i.e. TARGET RATING POINT; the content has become worse. Foul language, violence are being used which does not gives a good impact on youth’s mind. They try to do the same as shown, and eventually can ruin their lives.
Before any movie or any series is released it should be checked and if it is appropriate, worth seeing, then only it should be released. OTT platforms are very nice if we see from other perspective; many junior artists and other people are getting directions for their career and further more things. It also has many inspirational things and award winning shows, movies and series. The main thing which should be focused is the `content’, which should be worth watching. A proper check should be there so that nothing would be offensive. If we emphasize more on content work it will make our youth’s mind-set focused, determined, and will give them positivity which will make them walk on right path.
Rise of OTT platforms: Due to COVID – 19 we have gone through many lockdowns and many people have spent their lockdowns watching web-series, movies and various shows. Many people switched from T.V, cinema halls to OTT platforms for entertainment. `OTT release’ became quite normal and thus OTT platforms rose very high and in order to rise, the content got suffered somewhere.
Theatrical releases have always been controversies regarding their content; they were pointed out due to inappropriate scenes, hurting religious sentiments, but for these types of theatrical releases CBFC i.e. Central Board of Film Certification deals with all of it. But what about OTT platforms! OTT platforms on the other hand have no such board or legislation or body, regulating them; except by the MEITY i.e. Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Information Technology Act, 2000, like any other content. These platforms have certain self censorship standards of their own. And due to this there is no proper check on the content they make. Content which is released on OTT platforms cannot be broadcasted, which means it is not for public exhibition, rather it says it is something to be seen in private which means the content is offensive.
“This is a time for bold measures. This is the country, and you are the generation.”
Don’t just follow up the things coming in the same order but rather make it worth followed. So that, no fellow of yours would ever go to the wrong boundaries and through right and sound decisions can make a right call.
