PATRIOTISM IN INDIA

Patriotism is the great and selfless passion of love for one’s country. To an Indian patriot his mother and motherland are superior even to heaven. An Indian Patriot is ever ready to lay down his life in the service of his country, India.Patriotism is not mere passive love for the country. A true patriot, who loves India, is an active worker. He works at heart and soul for the progress of his India and countrymen. He takes action for maintaining the sovereignty and glory of his motherland.

India had glorious patriots that helped in bringing independence to the country. The Patriots made a lot of sacrifices for their motherland and helped the country prosper and flourish. Some of the greatest Indian patriots are Maulana Azad, Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmi Bai and many other notable personalities. The patriots have no fear of losing their lives on the battlefield for their country for doing some good to the country. Also, patriotism does not necessarily mean fighting for the country and shedding blood. True love for the country and thinking about the progress of the country is patriotism. Not all who show or try to explain are patriots. Many pseudo-patriots like to take undue advantage of the situation. They neither do have any discipline or character nor do they have any sense of morality and sacrifice. They live in their fictitious world created by them. They are instead the enemies of the country.A true patriot is respected even after his death. The soul of the patriot is immortal and deserves immense respect. A famous quote by Shakespeare is very relatable to this context, it says, “Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death once.”
Patriots like Shivaji, Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru are even remembered for their deeds today. They were the face of the fearless, and they fought for their motherland and contributed to her independence.A thought is a reflection of the mental picture. Mahatma Gandhi infused the patriotic feeling among the Indians, as a result of which, we gained freedom from British rule. Even today, there is a need for patriotic thought among Indian. There is no place of narrowness in the mind of a true patriot. He thinks himself as a citizen of the world as a whole.
Patriotism in 21st Century
in this modern globalised world, it is hard to draw lines and stick to theoretical patriotism. We buy laptops, made by sony, HP.., we buy IPhone & Samsung galaxy…., wear Levi’s and UCB, eat McDonald’s and KFC, and groom up with L’Oreal’s and Tressme. And any reasonable man would agree that these brands are more of a boon than bane. I mean, these companies have offices in India, employ Indian people, pay their taxes, and provide world class products to the citizens. So in my opinion, there’s nothing wrong in buying these products.

So, I come back to the point, that what should be patriotism in modern India. After much deliberation, I was able to prepare the following list:
Pehle desh, fir Pradesh: I haven’t visited Switzerland yet, but I must say that Kashmir is the most beautiful place in world. No wonder so many English poets & authors have called Kashmir “heaven on earth”. Instead of going to other country, travel and spend money in your own country.Made in India-many foreign products are made in India, but carry their brand name. I think all such products should carry a tag “made in India”. This way people would slowly develop pride in products “made in India”.

Get back to Hindi: why is Hindi considered the language for those who can’t understand English? This has to be changed.Hockey and kabaddi- I think we as Indians, should be more interested in these sports and encourage them, than watching Liverpool and Real Madrid
