ISSUES OF POVERTY AND UNEMPLOYMENT
India is a big nation in the region. It’s around 2.4% of the world’s total surface. Nor do you know how much of the world’s population it has? Well, that’s around 16.7%. According to the 2011 Census, the population of India is 1210 million. Any economic challenges have emerged for such a large population. There are the challenges of unemployment, inflation, hunger and rising rates. A substantial portion of our population lives below the poverty line. There is a massive unemployment rate. Inflation and price increase have contributed to the crisis. With a large number of people living below the poverty line, the effect on socio-economically marginal households in the form of reduced quality of life, disease, low health, hunger and child labour is becoming a serious concern. Almost a fifth of the population in the service group is almost completely below the poverty line. Poverty is a basic issue that hinders sustainability goals. Unemployment is a condition in which a person who is competent, ready to work, cannot find a job to make a living. Chronic unemployment and the resultant suffering are responsible for the erosion of human values. In the sense of poverty, parents should not hesitate to send their children to the job market. Millions of children are losing their childhood because of this epidemic. They remain uneducated and ignorant – resulting in unemployment or under-employment and hunger.
Beggary
It’s a painful feeling to come across beggars everywhere we go. At the market house, the train station, the school, the mosque, and also at the road junctions, you can see several people approaching you with open palms. They’re asking for money or food. We still see a lot of kids begging in the parks. Beggary is a big social concern in India. Poverty and unemployment are the key causes of sorrow in our country. Nowadays, several gangs are still active in our community, which thrives on begging in a coordinated way. Yet begging is a societal curse that needs to be eradicated. If you see beggars on the road or anywhere, tell them that begging is a crime punishable by statute, both for the one who begs and for the one who gives alms.
PROBLEMS OF CHILDREN
A nation will make strides unless it pays sufficient attention to the development of children. A infant is the country’s potential resident. Only those who flourish in a stable environment will contribute to their country’s prosperity and growth. Our nation has a very high number of girls. It is our responsibility to ensure that they have resources for good health and education. A substantial number of youngsters, due to poverty, do not attend school or retire from school before they finish their elementary education and are forced to start working at a young and tender age in factories, brick-and-mortars, restaurants, hotels, stores, etc. This hinders their development physically, psychologically, and emotionally. They grow up with hate and agony, and struggle to become worthy citizens of the nation. A kid in the age range of 6-14 years is expected to be in kindergarten. But, sadly, about 11,3 million of India’s 200 million children in this age group are workers. It is estimated by NGOs to be 60 million, of which 2,000,000 work as domestic assistance and almost the same number as bonded workers. These children become vulnerable to physical and emotional abuse, starving, beaten, and sometimes sexually manipulated. This is a significant issue that is commonly referred to as ‘child neglect.’ The Right to Education Act, 2009 allows for the education of all children between the ages of 6 and 14 years. Once this beloved objective of schooling is accomplished for everyone, the status of our children would be much greater.
