Pseudo feminism

All over the world we have come a long way relating to equality and justice. Many people have fought for the injustice we were facing. Whether it for black rights or women rights or Dalit rights. Justice and equality for women has been witnessed over the years, whether it is voting rights, equal job opportunity, women in corporate jobs or air-force etc. We have come a long way but not just enough and many of us are still fighting to get equal opportunity.

‘Feminism,’ in simple terms, means that no sex should be treated with any injustice. They should receive equal treatment or the encouragement of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. But nowadays people are forgetting the real meaning of feminism and many of them have the notion that women are superior to men. This type of belief is referred as “pseudo feminism”.  According to pseudo feminist the remedies to all the injustice faced by a woman is to demean man or lash out on them. Justice to women will be delivered only if one does injustice to men. But they often forget the grounds of feminism is based on equality and justice. The motive is to receive impartiality for women and not to be partial towards them.

Anyone can be a feminist whether a male, female, child etc. As the final goal is to be treated equal.  Every man knows the concept of feminism, and values it wholeheartedly and supports it. This generation is aware of all the issues and is quite attentive about the fact that women are as good if not better than men and we are seeing the change happening right before us.

Many get confused between feminism and pseudo feminism. Pseudo-feminists really don’t want equal treatment, they want to create a world governed only by women. They want to create a matriarchy world. A world governed and ruled by women. A recent example for pseudo feminism could be the case happened with Zomato delivery guy. As we all are aware of the girl Hitesha, from Bengaluru, who for getting a free pizza hit a delivery guy and framed it in such a way that she was the victim. Here the real victim was delivery guy but the way she acted and created the situation where one would blame him. She could a good example of a pseudo feminist the one who thinks woman are superior to man.

Recently a girl from Lucknow was seen beating a taxi driver. Many have come forward and criticised the girl for her behaviour. In the background of the video, a person can be heard saying, “Yeh ladki badtameez hai. Itne der takk koi ladka ladki ko maarta toh fir log kya karte?” (This girl is mannerless. If it were a man hitting a woman for so long, then what would people do?)

Feminism is simply about freedom and is not about judgment. Those people don’t wear the feminist badge. Feminist is supporting someone whether she wants to be working in the field or want to give their husbands food; some women want to take more care of their house and children than work. That does not make them slaves; it is up to them to decide what to do.

Feminism is to allow women to decide what they want to do and not any other person select or choose what she should do. It is about self-praising not degrading someone else. It should be woman’s decision to choose whether she wants to do a job or be housewife or to do a job and also maintain her house. Whether she wants kids or wants to live a bachelor life, or want to be married; want to wear a bikini or a sari or kurti etc. It is about her choices.

Feminism is a birth right and no one can take women away. the pseudo-feminists say men can’t be feminist, but you know who can be a feminist, a man, or a woman is or a trans who believes in women’s equality. Pseudo Feminism relates to women’s supremacy and men’s hatred. It’s not about equality. Pseudo feminists search for defects in all men do, finding ways to make them look bad, depicting them as suspects if nothing works for them or according to their choices, then playing the victim card.  A Feminist is a father who treats his daughter and son equally. A feminist is a husband who respects his wife to make her choices without taking decisions on her behalf. A trans gendered woman who like any other human being wants equal treatment and respect is a feminist in a way.
