I know this movie has been released ages ago but I just happened to see it today on Amazon Prime. Bollywood in the past has always tried to re-create the courtroom drama but most of the time it has only mislead the audience.
This movie has somewhat managed to capture the practicality of what goes behind the scene of a case
The loose storyline of the movie is about a Girl Anjali Dangle, who is an Assistant Costume Designer of a Movie, directed by Rohan Khurrana. On the day of July 8, she is allegedly raped the Director, who had called her to his house for Costume Trial.
She decides to file an FIR for Rape against him.
An FIR is filed. He is arrested and imprisoned for 10 years Rigourous Imprisonment. Rohan Khurrana’s wife then approaches Tarun ____ to file for an appeal before the High Court. Anjali’s case is then The movie revolves around the appeal filed and different stages.
It is one of the best performances by Akshay Khanna as Tanuj. Though the movie has tried to keep it as realistic as possible compared to the previous bollywood films, which over dramatise the Court Room scenes. For Example:- The moment we file a case in the High Court, the first thing we do is to look at the Bench Assignment and look before which Judge we would be presenting our Case. Study their previous judgments and get an idea on how he would deal with our case.
The other thing that I loved was, how they showed that relationship between the lawyers. Generally Bollywood movies, portray lawyers who are appearing against each other as arch enemies, but in reality, we are just collegues and in fact, we do have lunch together, gossip and party together, after work, even though we are appearing against each other.
