Now the long waiting at toll plaza on National Highways is going to be end, Surprise? But yes this is true, thanks to National Highway Authorirty of India(NHAI) to issues new guidlines.
What are the new guidlines?
- The guidlines are for the waiting time period of the cars on toll plaza, NHAI wants smooth flow of traffic and to ensure that it states that toll tax will be free if waiting time exceeds 10 seconds.
- Also NHAI instructed every toll plaza to make a yellow line 100 meters apart from the toll booth. And if the waiting lines of vehicles exceeds 100 meters then the cars ahead can pass without paying the toll fee untill the lines not comes under the yellow line.
- This new guidlines will help a lot to people. As the number of people are now considering FASTag to pay toll, social distancing has become a new issue in the time of pandemic and people now prefer contactless payment. The overall penetration of the FASTag has already reached 96 % and even in some area it is more than 96%. So looking into this matter NHAI issues these guidelines so that people do not face any rush or hassale at toll plaza even during the peak hours.
According to NHAI these new guidelines increase the acountability of workers at toll plaza.
But this new guidlines is benefits or work only for those who pay toll by cash becuase those who have FASTag the amount will automatically deduct when they approaches towards toll window. So why would FASTag users exempted from the new rules? By the way FASTag vehicles already have thier own lane on toll plaza to ensure their traffic less movement.
This is really a good peice of news, becuase the new guidelines will decrease the traffic on toll, however already the traffic has been reduced after the NHAI has implement 100% cashless tolling from the February 2021, the reason for this was that, there were some toll booths where the queue lines extending a Km, this simply means the time is wasting on collecting toll via cash, so to counter this NHAI made FASTag mendatory.Despite having FASTag mendatory, there some toll where the queue is long, in order to make the transaction faster NHAI issues these new guidelines. Now this totally depends on the workers on the toll booth how they implement this, how far they paint the yellow line, but yes if the monitoring becomes online this will surely so much helpfull for the drivers.
By the way,Kudos to NHAI for bringing these guidelines and regulations.
