Why I Choose To Join Law School?

Everyone in their initial education years think a lot about what they want to become when they grow up. Starting from our primary education years we think about our aims and how we could pursue it. Most of the time it happens generally that our decisions & goals keep on changing. And it could be the result of our second thoughts, our unstable decision making power, the influence of our parents or friends or surroundings, involvements of society or even coercion.

For me I always wanted to be an advocate. I always fantasized about being a part of a legal firm, handling career, arguing and keeping my points & wearing an advocate’s gown. I decided and wanted to opt for law as my career when I was 11 years old.

The very first reason for me to start dreaming about becoming a lawyer was when I heard my father saying he wishes that atleast 1 of his 3 children to work in the field of law. And that was when I first started to think about being an advocate. And as I saw different movies and television serials showcasing an advocate’s role, my interest grew more & more. And I got this feeling about learning more towards working as an advocate.

Then I started researching about this I searched for law schools, their addresses, contact numbers, fee structure, etc and noted it down. Even though I was sure about this and my parents being supportive, it took a lot of ups & downs and struggles to finally start pursuing law. I even faced certain situation where it seemed impossible to study in a law school. But after lots of issues & barriers here I am finally admitted into a law school. And I am going to cherish each & every moment of these years.

Now when I think of reason why I want to become an advocate is the importance it takes in the world. Law is of fundamental importance to our nation and it promotes in shaping our modern evolving society. Advocacy is considered as a tough profession but it is a very noble profession and its history can be traced back to the establishment of the first British Court in Bombay 1672 by Governor Aungier in India. Lawyers have ethical responsibilities not only towards himself, but his client, his opposite party, his counsel & of course towards the court.

Legal profession has its own pros. It has a variety of career options not confined only to a court room. With a law degree & decent experience one can start his own business. Lawyers also have the ability to earn a generous income. As an advocate, his daily duties can provide him with plenty of challenges & mental stimulation. While some lawyers may have unpredictable schedules, but mostly this career allows one to fit his schedule according to his own particular needs. As an advocate, one has the opportunity to grow and gain several skills. An advocate can even have the ability to help businesses & people in need. And if one enjoys a challenge & debating as I do, this may be the career for you. Many people view this profession as one with a high level of prestige. Legal profession also has a major importance & contributes towards the betterment of society.

There even may be many challenges a lawyer will have to face, but is there any success without struggle?

The more I think about the opportunity I received of being a part of this profession, the more blessed I feel. I want to inspire people especially girls to have this urge in them to get highly qualified and accomplish their dreams. I want to set an example for people in muslim community & minorities that a girl can also be a decent lawyer & contribute towards the legal system in India. I want to show the upcoming generation that when you truly aspire to reach the pinnacles of glory, nothing can stop you. I want to be an example that the girls wearing hijab can also opt for such professions & be successful in it. I not only want to bring the change but also be the change, and in order to establish that I ought to give my best and never stop or give up. And I really want to fulfill my father’s dream & make my parents proud.

I do not know what actually the future holds for me. But I pledge to give my best, accomplish my goals, become a successful lawyer, inspire people around me and work for the betterment of the society.
