Vijaya Ingule, 39, Lawyer from Mumbai.
What is your official office hours?
Depends on the work. Somedays it is very hectic. No fixed working hours.
How many hours do you spend at Work?
Minimum 8 hrs a day.
When did you first hear about Periods and from whom??
Being from a Brahmin household it was mandatory to follow the “Touch me not” system. Initially never understood the Why’s of it.. but then in 7th standard, our science teacher sent all the boys out and explained us the concept of Periods. Soon thereafter my elder sister got hers. So actually had heard a lot about periods in different set ups, in different ways and connotations but the concept was understood when I was in 7th grade.
What do you know about PCOD?
PCOD is a hormonal disorder
Is PCOD treatable ?
Yes. Lifestyle changes and excercises.
Are women with PCOD unable to conceive ?
That’s a misconception. They may find difficulty in it but they can definitely conceive.
What is your idea of Work Smart ?
Working smart for me is tweaking from the conventional working system. Something where you are flexible in your approach and make sure that the work is done. Due to advent of technology this is possible in many circumstances if not all.
Through this campaign, I am not asking that women working in corporates need to be sent home early. I am simply saying that men and women, working in Corporates, need to be sent home early without completing their jobs. I am just saying that men and women need to work more effeciently, so that we are able to wind up our day earlier. Technically speaking, it is of no use, women reaching home early and men reaching home late, because the kitchen closes only when the last person has their meal at home.
It may seem a simple but illogical change at present, but together if we can bring this change, which is quiet possible in our society. It will bring a huge change in all of our lives.
