Yoga in daily life

. Yoga is an ancient art form that unites body and mind. Yoga originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ is derived from Sanskrit which means ‘to unite’. Yoga involves movement, meditation and breathing techniques to promote mental and physical wellbeing.

. Yoga has been known and practised for many civilizations . Lord Shiva is said to be the first yogi or Adiyogi .Then it spread to different parts of the world. In Indus Valley civilizations ,seals and fossils of people doing yoga were found. Yoga is mentioned in the Vedas and Upanishads. Lord Buddha propounder of Buddhism and Lord Mahavira of Jainism stressed on the importance of meditation and yogic poses to attain satisfaction. Swami Vivekananda was one of the first primary yogi to spread yoga in modern period.

. Yoga is a great channel for releasing our stress and anxiety. It provides flexibility to the body and relaxation to mind. Yoga is an important tool for wellbeing and happy life. It can be practiced irrespective of age. Yoga is classified into four parts which are Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga , Bhakti Yoga , Kriya Yoga.

. The two major types of yoga are yoga asanas and yoga pranayams. Yoga brings relief from various diseases, improves the intellect, helps in concentration, calm emotions and encourages caring of others. Pranayama calms the mind. Yoga is a practical philosophy that covers all aspects of the human being. It teaches the individual’s evolution through the development of self-discipline and self-improvement. 

. Yoga has numerous benefits. The main goals of yoga include physical health , mental health , spiritual health , self-realization , social health . It helps to improve mental clarity, fitness , control stress and helps in greater understanding of oneself. The Yoga asanas increase muscle strength, coordination, flexibility and help maintain our cholesterol level by combining body control, reducing weight, normalizing blood pressure, improving cardiovascular performance.

. Yoga is a tool to induce psycho physical harmony, a tool to volatility, help to sharpen our mind, improving intelligence, high concentration, self-development and self-awareness.

. In today’s world, people find it difficult to schedule a time for yoga due to their busy life. As a result majority of people suffer from various diseases and mental illness. June 21 is declared as the International Yoga day since 2015 to bring awareness among people about the importance of practising yoga in daily life. It is very essential to spend a little time for doing yoga every day for a healthy and happy life.

I have always been against Glorifying Over Work and therefore, in the year 2021, I have decided to launch this campaign “Balancing Life”and talk about this wrong practice, that we have been following since last few years. I will be talking to and interviewing around 1 lakh people in the coming 2021 and publish their interview regarding their opinion on glamourising Over Work.
